Osceola, St. Clair County -- Route 82 on either side of Route 13 south of Osceola is scheduled to CLOSE for several months beginning the week of April 7, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.
The closing of Route 82 will NOT occur until Business 13 is reopened to traffic. Business 13 was closed March 10 to allow contractor crews to relocate its intersection with Route 82 farther to the west.
The closing of Route 82 is necessary to allow contractor crews to begin construction of a new Route 82 bridge over Route 13 - a part of the larger project to build an interchange at this intersection.
During the closing, a signed detour will be set up using Route 13, Route 54, Route 83, Route 65 and Route 7. However, drivers can use other routes to get around the closing.
School district officials and emergency responders are being notified so they can make plans to get around the closing.
Route 82 will be reopened at the same time the new interchange opens. When this occurs, drivers will use the new interchange to enter and exit Route 13 from Route 82.
Weather and/or construction delays will postpone the closing of Route 82.
