Springfield, Greene County -- The weekend closing of Kansas Expressway at James River Freeway in southwest Springfield has been POSTPONED for the second weekend in a row due to rain in the forecast, the Missouri Department of Transportation said. The work to convert the interchange to a Diverging Diamond has been rescheduled for Friday night, Aug. 16, through Monday morning, Aug. 19. Kansas Expressway and the ramps at the interchange at James River Freeway (Route 60) will be closed beginning at 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16. The interchange will reopen by 6 a.m. Monday, Aug. 19.
When the interchange opens, it will be in the new Diverging Diamond traffic pattern. Kansas Expressway carries Missouri Route 13 traffic and the James River Freeway carries U.S. Route 60 traffic.
