Soundwall Voting Results: Residents have voted in favor of a wall. Now, MoDOT designers are developing plans that will be sent out for construction bids in the fall of 2013. If the bids come in below $500,000, constuction on the wall will begin in the spring of 2014.
One location along James River Freeway (Route 60) between Kansas Expressway and Campbell Avenue qualifies for a sound-reducing wall.
A sound study was conducted in three different locations along James River Freeway as part of the planning and design process for building auxiliary lanes in each direction connecting the ramps between the Kansas Expressway and Campbell Avenue interchanges in Springfield.
MoDOT engineers met with property owners during a public meeting on Jan. 24 to explain the sound wall process and the next step forward in determing whether a sound wall will be built.
Sixteen property owners will decide whether they want a sound wall in early February. If a majority of the property owners vote in favor of the walls, the project will go out for construction bids to contractors. If the bids come in below $500,000, construction of the sound wall could begin in fall 2013 with completion by early 2014.
