Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is MoDOT doing to the bridge?
A: We will remove the bridge deck and replace it with a new one.
Q: Why is MoDOT working on the bridge?
A: The bridge is in poor condition and needs to be replaced.
Q: Will the new bridge be wider than the old bridge?
A: There is a rock quarry just west of the bridge, and the big trucks make passing on the bridge uncomfortable. The bridge is currently 20 feet wide from curb to curb. We will likely build it 22 feet wide from curb to curb, but our bridge designers still need to see if the remaining structure can support the new width.
Q: How long will the bridge be closed?
A: Between 40 and 50 days.
Q: Can we avoid closing the bridge while school is in session since school buses use this route?
A: Yes. This is why we asked the public for input, because you know better than we do what community events or issues we might face.
