Cape Girardeau County Road 481 will close due to continuing construction on Route 72. This section of roadway is located between Route 72 and Market Street in Millersville. Weather permitting, the road is scheduled to close as early as next Tuesday, Jan. 20 and will remain closed until the new county road connection is built. This section of County Road 481 is anticipated to be closed through the spring of 2010. The closure is needed so the utility company can relocate a power pole near County Road 481. This work is part of the bridge replacement on Route 72. Roberston Contractors expect to start major bridge work sometime in early May.

Cape Girardeau County

Apex Paving will begin overlaying the roadway and widening the shoulders on Route W in Cape Girardeau County. Weather permitting, work is expected to begin on Thursday, February 4 and last thru October 2010.
This section of roadway is located from LaSalle Avenue to Lexington Avenue.
While the work is being performed, there is a potential for traffic to be reduced to one lane and controlled by flaggers.
Robertson Contractors plans to start work replacing the White Water Bridge on Route 72 in Cape County. The contractor plans to lay asphalt for the temporary bypass on Monday, August 24.Weather permitting, the plan is to transfer traffic from the existing Route 72 to the temporary bypass sometime between Wednesday, August 26 and Friday, August 28. The bypass will be in place until the permanent bridge can be removed and replaced. New pavement will also be constructed to tie the roadway to the new bridge. Due to the width of the temporary bridge lanes there will be a 10 foot restriction.This section of roadway is located from County Road 350 to County Road 349. The estimated time for this job to be completed in November 2009.

Mississippi County

Work to improve the Route UU bridge over Interstate 57 in Mississippi County will begin at 7 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 30. During work, Route UU will be closed from Route 62 to County Road 327. I-57 traffic will also experience a reduced speed and lane reduction in the work zone during certain stages of the project. The project will include replacing the existing bridge deck. Route UU will remain closed for approximately 90 days, including nights and weekends.

Pemiscot County

Interstate 55 Ramp in Pemiscot County will be reduced with a 12 foot width restriction while the Contractor begins construction. The construction company will be replacing the existing concrete with new concrete pavement.The section of roadway is located at the I-55 northbound exit ramp to Route 84 (exit 19).Weather permitting, work will begin Tuesday, June 16 and will continue thru June and July from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. daily.
Eventually both northbound lanes of Interstate 55 will be closed from the Arkansas State Line to one mile north of Routes U/J for construction of the concrete overlay. Traffic will run head to head in the southbound lanes during construction. Arkansas to Route 164 (Steele) will be closed this summer and fall, Steele to one mile north of Routes U/J will be closed during next spring and early summer. All lanes on Interstate 55 north and southbound will be open to traffic this winter (Nov.15, 2009 to March 15, 2010).Additionally, the northbound ramps will be closed at the following locations and during the specified periods:

Route E interchange,Rest Area south of Steele
Phase B ( March 15, 2010 to July 30, 2010
Weigh Scales north of Steele,Route U/J interchange

Interstate 55 in Scott County will be reduced to one lane while MoDOT crews perform pavement repairs. This section of roadway is located in the northbound lanes from Route 77 at Benton to Route 61 at Scott City. Weather permitting, the work will be performed Monday, February 8 thru Thursday, February 11 from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily.

Genevieve County will be reduced to one lane while the Missouri Department of Transportation crews replace a drainage pipe beneath the roadway and ditching.The section of Route Z is located between Interstate 55 and Route N.. Weather permitting, the work will take place on both routes Monday, February 1 thru Friday, February 5 from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily.
