Cape Girardeau County Road 481 will close due to continuing construction on Route 72. This section of roadway is located between Route 72 and Market Street in Millersville. Weather permitting, the road is scheduled to close as early as next Tuesday, Jan. 20 and will remain closed until the new county road connection is built. This section of County Road 481 is anticipated to be closed through the spring of 2010. The closure is needed so the utility company can relocate a power pole near County Road 481. This work is part of the bridge replacement on Route 72. Roberston Contractors expect to start major bridge work sometime in early May.
Penzel Construction plans on diverting traffic from the bypass onto the new constructed bridge over the Little White Water bridge on Route 72 in Bollinger County. Traffic is scheduled to be diverted to the new constructed bridge on October 15 or October 16. The work zone will have a posted speed limit of 45 MPH . This will allow the contractor to go to the next phase of construction, which is removing the bypass material, constructing shoulders and slopes, replacing asphalt shoulders and roadway to complete the project.This section of roadway is located 2.5 miles west of Route 51 at Patton.Weather permitting, the work is taking place Monday thru Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily. The completion of the project is scheduled for the end of October.

Cape Girardeau County

Route 61 in Ste. Genevieve, Perry and Cape Counties will be reduced to one lane with a 10 foot restriction while the contractor performs resurfacing and shoulder repairs. This section of roadway is located from one mile south of Route V at Bloomsdale to Route 34/72 in Jackson. The work will be at various locations with milling of pavement on the South part and asphalt overlay beginning on the North part of Route 61. Weather permitting, the repairs will continue thru September 11 from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. daily.
Robertson Contractors plans to start work replacing the White Water Bridge on Route 72 in Cape County. The contractor plans to lay asphalt for the temporary bypass on Monday, August 24.Weather permitting, the plan is to transfer traffic from the existing Route 72 to the temporary bypass sometime between Wednesday, August 26 and Friday, August 28. The bypass will be in place until the permanent bridge can be removed and replaced. New pavement will also be constructed to tie the roadway to the new bridge. Due to the width of the temporary bridge lanes there will be a 10 foot restriction.This section of roadway is located from County Road 350 to County Road 349. The estimated time for this job to be completed is November 2009.
Route 72 in Cape County will continue to be reduced to one lane with a 14 foot width restriction while contractor crews begin paving.Robertson Contractors, Inc. is planning to install temporary traffic signals beginning on Thursday, October 8 that will be in place for 24 hours a day in order to complete the paving operation for the new bridge on Route 72 at Byrd Creek. Traffic will be routed onto a one lane temporary bypass so that the contractor can tie the new pavement to the existing pavement. Once the paving is completed, the traffic will be routed onto the new pavement and the new bridge.This section of roadway is located between County Road 465 and County Road 469. Motorists should expect delays especially during peak travel times in the morning and afternoon. Weather permitting, the bypass will be in place for approximately one week

Routes 74 and 61 in Cape County will be reduced to one lane while MODOT crews perform routine bridge maintenance.The bridge on Route 74 is located between Meadowbrook Lane and Kingshighway.The bridge on Route 61 is located between Bloomfield Street and William Street. Weather permitting, work will be done Monday, November 9 and Tuesday, November 10 from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. daily.

Madison County

Route 67 temporary bypass will begin Monday, May 18 at 6:30 a.m. and will be in place thru the end of the year. The bypass is necessary as grading and paving takes place to make a pavement connection from the new pavement to the existing pavement. There will be a 14 foot width restriction in place through the bypass. The bypass will be located from one mile south of County Road 412 to one quarter of a mile north of County Road 411.
Traffic is anticipated to be shifted to a new portion of Route 67 in Madison County on August 25. This section of roadway will begin from the end of the existing four-lane (just south of Route E) and extends south of Cherokee Pass (near County Road 401). This three mile stretch will have two way traffic on the new southbound lanes. Access to Route A and Route C will be accessible directly from the new roadway.Work will continue on the pavement connections for the northbound lanes. Concrete paving will also continue south of Cherokee Pass to the Madison/Wayne County Line.
Route 67 will be reduced to one-lane, flagger controlled work zone will be in place between the northern intersection of County Road 417 and County Road 411 as connections are built from the new pavement to the existing pavement. Motorist may expect up to 15 minute delays.The work is expected to start Monday, November 2 and last thru Friday, November13.

North and southbound Interstate 55 in Scott and New Madrid Counties will be reduced to one lane with a 12 foot width restriction while Apex Paving performs an asphalt overlay. Weather permitting, the work will start Monday, July 13 at 6:00 a.m. and will end Saturday, Oct. 31 at 6:30 p.m.The section of roadway is located from the Interstate 57/60 interchange at Miner to the Route 61/62 interchange at New Madrid.
A bridge deck replacement on Route EE over Little River Drainage Ditch No. 29 in New Madrid County is scheduled to begin on Thursday, October 15, weather permitting. The bridge will be closed to traffic during construction, which is scheduled thru Monday, November 30. Motorists will be detoured around the bridge during the construction.

Southbound Interstate 55 in New Madrid and Pemiscot Counties will be reduced to one lane with an 18 foot width restriction while MODOT crews perform pavement repairs. The section of roadway is located from Route 162 to Route T.Weather permitting, work will start at 8:00 a.m. Monday, Nov. 2 and will reopen Thursday, Nov. 4 at 3:00 p.m.
Route 162 in New Madrid County will be reduced to one lane with a 14 foot width restriction while MODOT crews perform pavement repairs. The section of roadway is located from Route 61 to County Road 417.Weather permitting, work will start at 8:00 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4 and will reopen Friday, Nov. 6 at 3:00 p.m.
Route 62 in New Madrid County will be closed while MODOT crews overlay roadway with hot mix. The section of roadway is located between Route 61 and County Road 507.Weather permitting, work will be performed Thursday, Nov. 5 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Pemiscot County

Interstate 55 Ramp in Pemiscot County will be reduced with a 12 foot width restriction while the Contractor begins construction. The construction company will be replacing the existing concrete with new concrete pavement.The section of roadway is located at the I-55 northbound exit ramp to Route 84 (exit 19).Weather permitting, work will begin Tuesday, June 16 and will continue thru June and July from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. daily.
Eventually both northbound lanes of Interstate 55 will be closed from the Arkansas State Line to one mile north of Routes U/J for construction of the concrete overlay. Traffic will run head to head in the southbound lanes during construction. Arkansas to Route 164 (Steele) will be closed this summer and fall, Steele to one mile north of Routes U/J will be closed during next spring and early summer. All lanes on Interstate 55 north and southbound will be open to traffic this winter (Nov.15, 2009 to March 15, 2010).Additionally, the northbound ramps will be closed at the following locations and during the specified periods:

Southbound Interstate 55 in Pemiscot County will be reduced to one lane while the Contractor begins paving the cross-overs in the median. They will also start installing tubular markers along the centerline of southbound I-55 in preparation for the shift of northbound traffic onto the southbound I-55. This shift in traffic is necessary for the construction of the new pavement for the northbound lanes. The section of roadway is located from Route 164 to the Arkansas State Line.Weather permitting, work will begin at 7:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 13 and will continue until further notice.

Southbound Interstate 55 in Pemiscot County will be reduced to one lane with a 16 foot width restriction while MoDOT crews perform pavement repairs. The section of roadway is located from Route 84 to two miles south. Weather permitting, traffic will be reduced to one lane at 7:00 a.m. Monday, October 26 and will reopen at approximately 5:00 p.m. Friday, November 6.
Route C in Pemiscot County will be reduced to one lane while MODOT crews perform pavement repairs. The section of roadway is located from Route 164 to Route J.Weather permitting, work will begin Monday, Nov. 9 thru Friday, Nov. 13 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. daily.
Northbound Interstate 55 in Pemiscot Counties will be reduced to one lane while MODOT crews perform pavement repairs. The section of roadway is located from one mile north of Route 84 to three miles north of Route 84.Weather permitting, work will start at 8:00 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3 and will reopen Friday, Nov. 6 at 4:00 p.m.

St. Francois County

Route 221 will be reduced to one lane on the bridge over the St. Francis River, approximately 1 mile south of Farmington on Route 221 for bridge repairs. Temporary traffic signals, barrels and work zone signing will be in place around the clock to direct traffic through the work area. Motorists should expect delays of 5 to 10 minutes throughout the duration of the lane closure.
Route 67-Work on the Route 67 Big River Bridge in St. Francois County, one of the Safe and Sound projects, will begin Tuesday, July 7 at 6:30 a.m. During work to construct the northbound bridge deck, Route 67 will be reduced to one lane, two-way traffic from the Route 8 interchange to the Orchard Road interchange. There will also be a 16-foot width restriction in the northbound lanes and 20-foot width restriction in the southbound lanes. Lane reductions are expected to be in place until October 2009, including nights and weekends.
Route 67-The Missouri Department of Transportation will re-open the Route 67 bridge over Big River in St. Francois County on Tuesday, Sept. 29 at 3 p.m., weather permitting. Route 67 between Stormy Lane and the Route 8 interchange will be restored to two-way, four-lane traffic at this time. Although the bridge will re-open, motorists are urged to use caution when traveling near the area. Work will continue as contractors paint the underside of the bridge, finish grading and seeding work, and remove temporary crossovers. Signs and warning devices will be in place.

Wayne County

Drivers on Route 67 should continue to be alert for equipment crossing at the north city limits of Greenville in Wayne County. Motorist may experience occasional five minute delays while trucks cross Route 67. The work zone will be flagger controlled. Weather permitting, the contractor will continue hauling material at the crossing, thru Monday, November 30 at 5:00 p.m. This crossing will be in place 24 hours, seven days a week. The work zone will be marked with signs. Motorists are urged to use extreme caution while traveling near the area.
As work continues to progress on the US Route 67 corridor, one of the contractors, PCI Roads from St. Michael, Minnesota, is ready to open a portion of the new pavement. The contractor plans to switch the active travel lanes from “head to head” traffic, to divided traffic on September 10, 2009. Should weather or other factors prohibit the switch, it will be delayed one day until it is acceptable to make the transition. Before the traffic switch is made, it will be necessary to halt traffic on US Route 67 for approximately 20 minutes. When traffic is released, southbound traffic and northbound traffic will be separated by a median. There will also be a section in which traffic from both the north and south will be directed onto a bypass until Wenesday, October 20, 2009. This work is necessary to correct the existing pavement markings and complete the remainder of the mainline pavement.
This section of road is located approximately one half mile north of the Route 49-172 intersection.Work began on this corridor shortly after Poplar Bluff voters approved a 0.5% tax increase to fund a portion of the nearly 50 mile expansion project. Since this tax was approved, MoDOT has been working diligently with their contractor partners to complete the improvement.
