What's the problem? Aging pavement on Interstate 57.

What's the solution? MoDOT is planning improvements to the corridor.

What's happening now?  Construction is ongoing resurfacing the existing lanes with concrete and adding new shoulders from the Illinois state line to two miles south of the Route 105 exit near Charleston.

What happens next? Future projects are planned in 2010 to:

• treat the southbound lanes in Mississippi County from Route NN overpass to Route AA overpass.
• treat the northbound lanes from Route 62 to the Mississippi River Bridge.
• resurface the northbound lanes from Route AA overpass to four miles south of Route 105.
