Route 67 Improvements

What’s the project?

Work from half-mile south of Route E in Madison County to the Wayne County line is separated into two phases:

The first phase of this project is for demolition work to prepare property purchased for the project. A contract was awarded for this phase in fall 2006.

Phase two includes grading, paving and bridges to add two additional lanes from a half-mile south of Route E in Madison County to the Wayne County line. A contract is anticipated to be awarded for this phase in spring 2008.

Where does it stand now?

The next 16 miles have been completely surveyed and mapped for roadway design. MoDOT has completed the preliminary plan for the project. MoDOT will share the preliminary plans with the public, gathering comments and making adjustments to the plan as necessary.

What happens next?

Right-of-way purchasing began in fall 2006. MoDOT’s right-of-way team will complete all of the necessary appraisals for the purchase of the property. MoDOT will be purchasing right-of-way and access rights from all property owners along the route; therefore, a property owner may be located along the existing route on the opposite side of the new construction but will still be approached by our right of way department to purchase access rights to the roadway.

What’s the estimated cost?
Phase one construction--$1 million
Phase two construction, including all right-of-way costs for this section--$42-46 million
