SIKESTON—The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission approved the location and design of the Route 67 improvements south of Poplar Bluff.
The project includes upgrading Route 67 to a four-lane facility from the existing four-lane section to one mile south of the Route 160/158 intersection. The newly constructed four-lane Route 67 will be shifted to the east of the existing alignment with limited access for increased safety.
“By limiting access, MoDOT will be able to better manage the amount and location of access points along the roadway,” says Project Manager Eric Krapf. “This strategy greatly improves safety because it reduces the number of potential conflict points that can lead to congestion.”
Right of way acquisition could begin as early as fall 2010, with construction beginning the following year.
