The Missouri Department of Transportation's Southeast District kicked-off National Work Zone Awareness Week (April 7-11) with
a fun run/walk on Saturday, April 5.
The event began at the Willow Springs High School Football
Field, and participants chose to take part in a 1-mile fun
run/walk or 5k.
Over 30 participants joined in the run/walk to help raise
awareness for the importance of Work Zone Safety, in addition
to 12 MoDOT employees that assisted with the event.
Special guests, Chief Financial Officer Roberta Broeker and
Financial Services Director Brenda Morris, visited the Southeast
District from Jefferson City to show their support. Barrel Bob,
MoDOT’s work zone safety spokesperson, was also on hand
throughout the event.
“It was a great success,” said Assistant District Engineer Chris
Rutledge. “The event combined fun for the whole family and
the MoDOT team with a great cause.”
The proceeds raised through the event will go to MoDOT’s
