MoDOT Holds Veterans Memorial Highway Dedication
SIKESTON - A dedication ceremony for the Veterans Memorial Highway was held Friday, Dec. 17, at 2 p.m. at the American Legion Brown/Mabry Post 153 in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
Representative Gayle Kingery sponsored the legislation, naming the portion of Highway 60 in Butler County from the Black River to the US 67 and Route M intersection the Veterans Memorial Highway.
Speakers at the ceremony included:
• The Honorable Gayle Kingery, Missouri House of Representatives, District 154
• Mr. Tracy Edington, City of Poplar Bluff Mayor
• Mr. Mark Shelton, MoDOT Southeast District Engineer
• Mr. Lynn Dorrell-The American Legion Department of Missouri Commander.
Four Veterans organizations supported the legislation, including the American Legion Brown/Mabry Post 153, AMVETS Francis Boyer Post 29, VFW Memorial Post 6477 and the American Legion Post 630.
