- State Senator Wayne Wallingford
- Woodland School Superintendent Jennings Wilkinson
- MoDOT Southeast District Engineer Mark Shelton
The improvements included grading and paving, as well as adding important safety features such as shoulders and realigning several curves.
"Without teamwork, this would not have been possible," said Project Manager Eric Krapf.
More than $2 million for Route 34 improvements came from the Delta Regional Transportation Program. Delta Regional Authority provided over $1 million. Woodland School District partnered with MoDOT and provided $300,000. In addition, $500,000 came from SFY 2010 Appropriations.
"We cannot thank our partners enough for stepping in to help this project become a reality. With the state’s current transportation funding issues, partnerships are vital," said Krapf.
MoDOT’s contractor pursued a very aggressive schedule once the
project was awarded and completed the work about six months
ahead of schedule.
