| Ferlin Husky Memorial Sign Dedication Ceremony
SIKESTON - A dedication ceremony for Ferlin Husky Highway was held Saturday, Sept. 24, at 9 a.m. at West County High School in Leadwood, Mo.
Representatives Linda Black and Steve Hodges sponsored the legislation, naming Highway 8 in St. Francois County from Route M east to the intersection of Main St. in the city of Leadwood the Ferlin Husky Highway.
Speakers included:

• Kevin Engler, Missouri Senate, District 3
• Linda Black, Missouri House of Representatives, District 107
• Mayor John Hartley, Mayor of Leadwood
• Mr. Terry Preston, Son of Mr. Ferlin Husky
• MoDOT Southeast District Area Engineer Dale Kinneman
Husky, born near Flat River, Mo., was a singer, songwriter, actor and Country Music Hall of Fame inductee. His career began in the late 1940's, selling over 20 million records. Husky passed away on March 17, 2011.
