Commission Awards Contract for Pavement Improvements in St. Francois, Ste. Genevieve Counties
SIKESTON - The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awarded a contract during its regular meeting on April 3 for pavement improvements in St. Francois and Ste. Genevieve Counties. The $1,623,517 contract was awarded to APAC-Missouri Inc., Columbia, Mo.
The project includes the addition of rumble strips on Route 32 in St. Francois County from Vineyard Road to Route B near Bismarck and added shoulders on Route 47 from Route 21 to just west of Route E near Bonne Terre. Additionally, the project includes resurfacing and adding shoulders on Route O from Interstate 55 to Route 32 in Ste. Genevieve County.
"The new shoulders on Routes 47 and O will have a two-foot wide paved surface with rumble strips, which will help improve safety and nighttime visibility," said Project Manager Tim Richmond.
Weather permitting, construction is expected to start in early spring, with completion anticipated by the end of fall 2012.
Work zones will be marked with signs as work is underway. Motorists are urged to use extreme caution when traveling near the area and plan for possible delays. MoDOT will alert drivers prior to any changes in traffic.
