Willow Springs, Mo. - Contractor crews have switched traffic onto a new bridge structure over the Gasconade River on Route 17, north of Waynesville. Traffic continues to be one-lane as crews work to remove the former structure and complete the construction project. Weather permitting, crews and equipment will continue to be on the roadway between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.
This construction is part of a surface leveling project on Route 17, which includes adding an asphalt overlay to over 12 miles of Route 17. The project encompasses three bridges located north of Business Loop 44 near Waynesville, Mo. The total project extends from Route 133 to the Interstate 44 business loop near Waynesville, Mo. Once completed, the ride will be smoother for motorists.
Robertson Contractors, Inc., of Poplar Bluff, Mo. is completing the construction, which is expected to continue through December. Crews and equipment are located directly on the roadway when working. Temporary stoplights and signage will be used to alert motorists, who are urged to exercise caution when moving past the work zone.
