Willow Springs, Mo. -The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) has announced work will begin on the Route K Bridge over the Spring Creek in Phelps County the week of May 18.

The bridge will be temporarily closed, allowing crews to replace the bridge deck. The contract states work must be complete and the bridge reopened within 60 days.

Hess said the South Central district Safe & Sound team is sensitive to the impact that will be felt by those who travel Route K during the closure. "We have communicated with key stakeholders to discuss school bus routes, emergency response and any other challenges that may arise during construction," Hess said.
