Districts Impacted
The Washington County Route A bridge over Indian Creek, east of Sullivan, is slated for replacement in 2026-2027. Built in 1958, the bridge is in poor condition, showing signs it has reached the end of its useful life, and in need of replacement. The new structure will be 24 feet wide, 4 feet wider than the current structure.
Construction of a new bridge will require a full roadway closure. A signed detour will direct motorists to use Washington County Route T and Missouri Route 185.
PUBLIC MEETING
An in-person public meeting will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2025, at the Washington County Courthouse from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Members of the project team will be on hand to answer questions, provide information, and receive input about the project. There will be no formal presentation, so members of the public can come and go as they please. By participating and commenting, the public can help MoDOT determine what best serves the needs of the roughly 300 motorists who use the bridge on an average day while being responsible stewards of available funding.

That is the earliest date the contractor may begin work.
Construction is expected to take place in 2026-2027. The roadway is expected to be closed for 150 calendar days, subject to change. By contract, work on Route A cannot begin until the work on Route W Bridge Deck Replacement over Ashley Branch in Washington County | Missouri Department of Transportation and Missouri Route 185 Bridge Deck Replacement over Swan Branch in Washington County | Missouri Department of Transportation are complete.
