Signal Work Planned

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Routine maintenance to the signal cabinets at two intersections will affect motorists in St. Joseph next week. Two intersection of U.S. Route 169 (Belt Highway) will receive new signal cabinets overnight on Monday, Nov. 28. During the work the signals will be dark. Portable stop signs will be in place and the intersection should be treated as a four-way stop.

At the Belt and Messanie, crews will work beginning at 9 p.m. and should be done be 1 a.m. They will then move to the intersection of Belt and Sherman where they will work until approximately 5 a.m.

Drivers are reminded that whenever a signal is dark or in flash mode, the intersection should be treated as a four-way stop. Even after the signals are operational, workers will be present at these intersections performing maintenance work. Motorists should use extra caution and may encounter delays throughout the night.

All work is weather permitting and could be rescheduled. MoDOT encourages all travelers to slow down, buckle up, eliminate distractions, pay attention and drive safely so everyone is able to Arrive Alive.
