Log Creek Bridge Now Open

KINGSTON, Mo. – For in and around Caldwell County who rely on Route 13 for daily commutes and connection to basic necessities, patience has paid off. The new Log Creek Bridge just south of Kingston is now open. Crews from Phillips Hardy, Inc. and the Missouri Department of Transportation were able to reopen the route last night after a bridge replacement project.

Workers may still be present at the site, and there may be single lane closures, as crews finish the details on shoulders and roadsides around the bridge. Motorists should continue to use caution and follow all signs and flaggers present.

The old bridge, built in 1930, underwent a routine inspection during the fall of 2014. It was found to have significant, critical deterioration which prompted the immediate closure of the bridge. Erecting temporary support structures for the bridge and installing temporary traffic signals allowed the bridge to reopen as a one-lane bridge. On Aug. 1, 2016, contractors from Phillips Hardy, Inc. of Boonville, Missouri, working with MoDOT closed the road to replace the deteriorated structure and the new bridge was opened 100 days later on Wednesday, Nov. 9.

All work is weather permitting and schedules are subject to change. MoDOT encourages all motorists to slow down, buckle up, eliminate distractions and drive safely to ensure everyone is able to Arrive Alive.
