Cloing the bridge saves taxpayer money by allowing the contractor to work more efficiently and will result in a shorter construction period.

Based on the cost/benefit ration, building a bypass would not be a good use of taxpayer funds.
Only the purchase of two construction easements is anticipated at this time.
The project will be let in March 2018 allowing contractors to submit competitive bids for the project.
The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission will review bids and award or deny the bids at their April 2018 meeting.
The contractor is allowed to begin work in May 2018.
The contract completion date is August 2018 though the contractor may finish the job before that date, if other factors allow.
