US 169:  The Missouri Department of Transportation has announced that roadwork will begin in Buchanan, Andrew, and Dekalb Counties on Route DD, MO 31, and U.S. 169. The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, signed by President Obama earlier this year will be the source of revenue for the project.  The contract was awarded to Herzog Contracting Corp., in the amount of $3,210.429.51. The project will provide for milling and resurfacing on Route DD and MO 31 in Buchanan County and the widening, milling and resurfacing of north U.S. 169 in Buchanan, Andrew, and Dekalb Counties.
On Route DD in Buchanan County, the milling and resurfacing will take place from MO 371 near Faucett to Route MM, for a total length of four miles. Paving is expected to start on September 28th. This has been delayed a few days.  On Route 31 in Buchanan County, the resurfacing will take place from U.S. 36 near Easton to U.S. 169, for a total length of 6.2 miles. Paving is expected to start on September 24th. This has been delayed a few days.  On north U.S.169, the resurfacing of the driving lanes and construction and widening of an additional two feet of paved shoulder will take place from the junction of north U.S. 169 and MO 31/Route E in Dekalb County to north of Interstate 29 near St. Joseph in Buchanan County for a total length of 20.9 miles. Work is anticipated to start on September 24th.  All projects will be completed by December 1st, 2009.
Flaggers and a pilot car will direct motorists through the work zone. Drivers may expect up to 15-minute delays and may want to choose an alternate route. Motorists are reminded to use extreme caution when driving through work zones.

Route 136 - Brownville Bridge - The Missouri Department of Transportation, in cooperation with the Nebraska Department of Roads, has announced that work will begin on the Brownville Bridge on U.S. 136 connecting Atchison County, Missouri and Nemaha County, Nebraska.  The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act signed by President Obama earlier this year will be the source of revenue for the project.  The contractor's notice to proceed is Tuesday, September 1st, for bridge rehabilitation and bridge deck replacement.  The contract was awarded to Cramer & Associates, Inc. of Grimes, Iowa in the amount of $8,113,822.82.  The project will take two years to complete.  Improvements will include a new deck, new railing, repair of the sub-structure, and new paint.  As many as 12 weekend closures are anticipated, but MoDOT is working closely with the communities on both sides of the bridge to limit the impact on scheduled tourism events.  Beginning Tuesday, September 8th, the bridge will be narrowed to one lane with a width restriction of 8'6".  Temporary signals will be in place to direct motorists through the work zone.  Motorists may expect brief delays.   Message boards will also be in place on Interstate 29 to update drivers about the work zone, the width restrictions, and closures.  Motorists are reminded to use extreme caution when driving through work zones.

Route U:  The Missouri Department of Transportation has announced that Route U in Buchanan County will be closing for railroad crossing repairs on Thursday, November 12th. Union Pacific Railroad will be closing on Route U at the intersection of Stockyards Expressway from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Motorists will still be able to access the Stockyards Expressway at Route U. Motorists should plan to use alternate routes during this time. The work is scheduled to take one day to complete. Message boards will also be in place to warn motorists of this closure.

Construction Projects: 

Route AC (Riverside) - The Missouri Department of Transportation has announced that roadwork will begin in Buchanan County on Route AC. The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act signed by President Obama earlier this year, will be the source of revenue for the project.
The contract was awarded to Ideker, Inc., in the amount of $1,937,843.36. The project consists of resurfacing with Superpave and constructing right turn lanes. The completion date is December 1, 2009.  Beginning Monday, September 14th, work will take place on Route AC in Buchanan County, from south of Route 6 (Frederick Blvd.) to south of Route 36 in St. Joseph, with the total length of improvement being 2.2 miles. The work zones may be active 24 hours a day, seven days a week to expedite the progress on this project. The road will be narrowed to one lane. Flaggers and a pilot car will direct motorists through the work zone. Drivers may expect up to 15-minute delays and may want to choose an alternate route. Motorists are reminded to use extreme caution when driving through work zones.


The Intersection of U.S. 169 and Route A (near Menard's) - The Missouri Department of Transportation has announced that the improvements planned for the intersection of Routes 169 and A (near Menards) are scheduled to begin Tuesday, September 8, 2009 (weather permitting).
The project was awarded to H.B. Construction, Inc. of Platte City, Mo. and consists of intersection re-alignment, grading, paving, and installation of a four-way traffic signal. The amount of the award was $828,313.58. The public should begin to see utility re-location work going on immediately, and once construction begins, the contractor has 50 working days to complete the project, with all work planned for daylight hours. At least one lane of traffic in each direction on Routes 169 & A shall be kept open at all times except for brief periods of time needed to move equipment.

Clinton County- Click Here For Clinton County Safe & Sound Bridge Projects

Route K:  The Missouri Department of Transportation has announced that roadwork has been scheduled for Route K in Clinton County to begin on Tuesday, November 3rd (weather permitting.) Area maintenance crews will close Route K two miles north of MO 116 west of Plattsburg for culvert replacements. The work is scheduled to continue on Wednesday, November 4th. The road will be closed to all traffic both days at this location from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Motorists will need to choose an alternate route during this time.

Route BB:  The Missouri Department of Transportation has announced that area maintenance crews will be patching on Route BB in Cameron beginning the week of November 2nd (weather permitting.) Patching will be done in various locations and the road will be narrowed to one lane around the work zone. Flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone.

Construction Projects:

Interstate 35 - Economic Recovery Project 

The Missouri Department of Transportation has announced that southbound traffic on Interstate 35 in Clinton County will be put head to head in the northbound lanes between Route BB and MO 116 on Friday, May 15th (weather permitting.) The speed limit will be reduced to 60 miles per hour in the work zone. While traffic is head to head the U.S. 69 Hwy. southbound on ramp to Interstate 35 will be closed at the 48 mile marker. Work on this project is scheduled to be completed by December 15th. On February 17th this Clinton County Interstate 35 project was one of the first Economic Recovery projects started in the nation. Loch Construction of Maryville, Missouri is the contractor on this project, which includes approximately seven miles of resurfacing and bridge rehabilitation from north of MO 116 to north of U.S. 69 Hwy. near Lathrop. The contract was awarded to Loch in the amount of $14,616,568.41.

Interstate 35:  The Missouri Department of Transportation has announced that the southbound Interstate 35 off ramp to Route B in Daviess County at the 80 mile marker will be closing for repairs on Monday, November 9th at 7:30 a.m. (weather permitting.) Area maintenance crews will be making concrete repairs on the off ramp and will close the ramp to traffic. The ramp will close on Monday, November 9th at 7:30 a.m. and not reopen to traffic until the afternoon of Tuesday, November 10th. Motorists will need to use alternate routes during this time.

Route D:  The Missouri Department of Transportation has announced that Route D in Dekalb County has been scheduled for bridge repairs at Ervins Branch bridge beginning this week. The bridge will be narrowed to one lane while the repairs are being made. Flaggers will be directing motorists through the work zone. The work is scheduled to be completed by Friday, November 6th (weather permitting.)

Interstate 29:  The Missouri Department of Transportation has announced that roadwork has been scheduled for tomorrow on Interstate 29 in Holt County, weather permitting.
Beginning Thursday, November 5th, area maintenance crews will be doing concrete repairs on Interstate 29, northbound, between mile marker 74 and mile marker 75. The highway will be narrowed to one lane and the work will be completed on Saturday, November 7th. Motorists are reminded to use extreme caution when driving through work zones.
