February 4, 2008 UPDATE: Demolition of old bridge is 46% complete - Crews are working on removing debris from the implosions.   The river bed has to be cleaned up within 24 hours of each implosion; crews will work on cutting up and hauling off scrap steel.  Preparing for pier removal.

Tentative Implosion Schedule, weather permitting:

May 19 & 22 - Pier 4

May 27 & June 2 - Pier 3

June 5 & 11 - Pier 2

The demolition of the old Missouri River Bridge was awarded to Anderson Excavating and Grading Co. who submitted the low bid of $1,284,219.00.  The old bridge was replaced by the Senator Christopher S. Bond Bridge, which was built just west of the old structure and the dedication ceremony was held on October 12.

The project office is located at the old firehouse in Hermann and the phone number is 573-486-0159 or you may also contact the Mexico Project Office at 573-581-8320.  Although the inspectors on this project are not in the office a lot (their real "office" is out working with the contractor), they will be glad to answer your questions.

If you are interested in viewing the new bridge, or you are curious about what the weather is like in Hermann, you will be able to see all of these things, click on the following link at www.modot.org/hermannbridge.htm.  Three thumbnail images will take you to real-time cameras located at the Gasconade County Courthouse, the Historic Hermann Firehouse and West First Street so you may view the construction of the bridge.   These cameras are timed to take photo images on a regular basis.  The frequency of these images is approximately every 15 minutes.  By clicking on the images, you will be directed to a web site where you can view from the selected image in greater detail.
