Traffic Shift for Route 36 in Shelby County Scheduled for Tomorrow
MACON - MoDOT will be opening a 3.5-mile stretch of Route 36 to two-way traffic from the Macon/Shelby County line to Shelby County Road 309 east of Clarence on Wednesday, January 21. Route 151, north of Route 36, will also be opened in conjunction with this traffic switch.
Traffic on Route 36 will be detoured to the new Route 36 alignment just north of Clarence. There will be a three-way stop at the temporary intersection of Route 36 and Route 151. The Route 151 bridge over Route 36 will remain closed while the old bridge is removed and replaced with a longer structure.
Detour signs will be in place to guide motorists through this area.
The traffic switch is necessary to allow for the construction of the Route 151 bridge and interchange. Two of the ramps at this interchange are complete and will serve as a detour around the bridge construction area.
Motorists are advised to use caution in the work zone while becoming accustomed to the new traffic pattern, and to pay particular attention to stopping vehicles at the temporary intersection of Route 36 and 151.
