Informational Public Meeting to Be Held About Route MM Bridge Replacement
Crooked Creek Bridge Located South of Moscow Mills in Lincoln County

HANNIBAL – Drivers using Route MM in Lincoln County can look forward to a new, wider, two-lane bridge by this fall.   The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awarded the bridge replacement project to Don Schnieders Excavating for their bid of $486,264.35.   A public informational meeting will be held on Monday, March 21 from 4:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. at the Moscow Mills Community Building on Highway C.  This is an open-house style meeting, so individuals may stop by anytime in those two hours to visit with MoDOT representatives about the project.

Construction is expected to start sometime this spring, and the road will be closed at that time.  “The official completion date for the project is October 1, and we expect the road to be closed approximately two months,” said MoDOT Area Engineer Erik Maninga, P.E.

Manginga said no detour will be signed along the route.  “The majority of the traffic on this road is local, so they will use their best alternate routes while the road is closed,” he said.  MoDOT wants to remind drivers that Shetland Trail is a private road not maintained by the county or the state, therefore, use of it by drivers is discouraged.

The bridge will be two-feet wider when completed, and the railings will be made of concrete instead of metal.  The date of the closure will not be known until later this spring, and MoDOT will keep area drivers informed through local media.  Those interested can also subscribe to the email and text notification system at https://www6.modot.mo.gov/eMoDOTWeb/jsp/signon/signon.jsp.
