HANNIBAL - Late Wednesday afternoon, April 30, Route A west of New London will reopen to traffic after being closed a little over a month to redeck the Turkey Creek Bridge. The bridge is located just west of US 61 between Doe Run Road and Brookside Trail in Ralls County.
The same day, Route A over Ely Creek, just west of Route H between Sydney Road and Cincinnati Road in Ralls County, will close for a bridge replacement. "There will be a short time when Route A is closed at both bridges, but drivers can use local roads and Route H to go around," said Martin Lincoln, Jr., MoDOT resident engineer overseeing the project.The deck and side barriers on the 59-year-old bridge were removed all the way down to steel and replaced with a new deck which is 22 foot wide compared to the old 20 foot deck.MoDOT would like to thank area residents for their patience during construction.
