HANNIBAL - Beginning, July 9, MoDOT and its contractor, Chester Bross Construction, will begin improvements on US61/24 at Palmyra. Three intersections along US 61 will be improved including those at Ross Street, Main Cross Street and Thompson Street, to make on and off access safer for motorists.Work will begin on drainage and widening areas in the median and the west side of US 61/24 to accommodate new turn lanes at the intersections. Traffic will be reduced to one lane on northbound and southbound US 61 with a 45 mph speed limit at the work zone. Flashing arrow boards and orange warning signs will alert motorists of lane closures and upcoming work zones. Crews will be working during daytime work hours from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. throughout the entire week as weather permits.
