HANNIBAL - Weather permitting, beginning April 30, MoDOT crews will close the following routes listed below for cinder sealing in Lewis County on the dates and times indicated. Motorists must use alternate routes during these times. Some areas of these roads will be open to local traffic only. All lanes will be open to traffic at the end of each workday.

Route AA - April 30 road closed 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. east of Durham
Route CC - April 30 road closed from 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. east of Ewing
Route N - May 1 road closed from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. south of Ewing
Route H - May 2 road closed from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. north of Lewistown
Route J - May 3 road closed from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. south of Lewistown
Route DD - May 7 road closed from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. south of Route 6 between LaBelle and Lewistown

Signs will be in place to advise motorists fresh oil and cinders may be present at various locations along the roadway. Construction equipment and trucks hauling material will be entering and exiting the work zone. Please use extra caution if you must travel through the work zone area.

"This process seals the existing road surface protecting it from weathering and water damage, and lengthens the life of the road depending on the previous condition and the amount of traffic the road receives," explains MoDOT Area Engineer Amy Crawford.

All roadwork is posted on the traveler information map. Those traveling and the commuting public are encouraged to check the online map at www.modot.org daily for new work zones.
