Ribbon Cutting Ceremony in Ralls County
Celebrating Four Completed Bridge Projects

HANNIBAL - MoDOT, its contractor and Ralls County Commissioners, are inviting elected officials, other partners and the general public to the first ribbon cutting ceremony this year in northeast Missouri to celebrate the completion of four bridge projects in Ralls County under MoDOT's Safe and Sound Bridge Program.  The ceremony will be held on Wednesday, June 1 at 10 a.m. at Nadine Lane and MO 19, just north of the E. Lick Creek Bridge on MO 19.

The four bridges completed so far this year in Ralls County include the bridges over Spencer Creek on Routes 154 and P, the Ely Creek Bridge on Route J just north of Clarence Cannon Dam, and the East Lick Creek Bridge on Route 19, completed and opened back up to traffic Friday afternoon.  While the bridges were being worked on, roads were closed.  "The average closure on these four projects was 43 days, and while we know it was an inconvenience to go around, we were able to get in, replace or rehabilitate the bridge, and open the road up quickly, and we appreciate everyone's patience," said MoDOT Northeast District Engineer Paula Gough.  Gough said there are two more bridges scheduled to be replaced in Ralls County later this year including the Route E bridge over Malaruni Creek at Saverton and the Route F bridge over Spencer Creek between Center and Frankford.

This week, a milestone of half of the 802 bridges slated for rehabilitation or replacement have been completed.  The program is expected to be fully completed by the end of 2013.  Detours, pictures and other details about each bridge is available online at www.modot.org/northeast, under the Safe & Sound Bridge Program icon or by calling MoDOT at 1-888-275-6636.
