Route 19 Will Open to Traffic Today (Friday) north of Laddonia
E. Lick Creek Bridge Completed One Week Ahead of Scheduled

HANNIBAL - This afternoon around 5 p.m., Friday, May 27, Route 19 will open back up to traffic after a little over a month of work to replace the East Lick Creek Bridge north of Laddonia.  For motorists travelling southbound on US 61, the message board near New London (Route 19 exit) will be changed to let drivers know when the road is open.

The 81 year old bridge, which closed for replacement on April 25, was replaced under MoDOT's innovative Safe and Sound Bridge Program. "We replaced the old structure with a wider and safer bridge in only 32 days, opening to traffic a week ahead of schedule," said MoDOT's Construction and Materials Engineer Macy Rodenbaugh. The bridge is one of six being worked on this year in Ralls County.

A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held next Wednesday, June 1 at 10 a.m. at Nadine Lane and MO 19.  The public is invited to attend the brief ceremony.

All roadwork is posted on the traveler information map. Those traveling and commuting public are encouraged to check the online map at www.modot.org daily for new work zones. MoDOT also offers e-update messages sent directly to your email when roadwork is scheduled.  Sign up online or call MoDOT's customer service center at 1-888-275-6636.

MoDOT reminds everyone to please drive safely this holiday weekend, and make sure everyone in the vehicle has on a seat belt.
