Bridge Closure Planned north of Monroe City on Route CC in Marion County

HANNIBAL - Weather permitting, it is anticipated Route CC, north of Monroe City, will close to traffic by middle or late June to rehabilitate the bridge over the Sharpsburg Branch of the South Fork of North River. Due to delays caused by the recent cool, wet weather, the schedule for the bridge work is tentative.

Road closure signs will be in place notifying motorists of the work. The detour is marked over Routes Z, K and US 36. Message boards along the road will be set up in advance of the closure. The bridge rehabilitation should take approximately 44 working days to complete.

The 52-year-old bridge is the one of five bridges being worked on in Marion County under this program over the next few years. Other bridge replacements in Marion County scheduled for 2012 include Route Z north of Monroe City at South Fork North River, Route MM west of Hannibal at Bear Creek, Route 168 between Philadelphia and Emden at North River and Route D north of Philadelphia at South Fabius River.

With almost 40 bridge projects scheduled this year in northeast Missouri, MoDOT has created web pages that will provide updated information about these projects and subsequent road closures. The web pages, found at www.modot.org/northeast under Safe & Sound, are easy to navigate and provide as many details about possible on the bridges that will be rehabilitated or replaced this year.

All roadwork is posted on the traveler information map. Those traveling and commuting public are encouraged to check the online map at www.modot.org daily for new work zones. MoDOT also offers e-update messages sent directly to your email when roadwork is scheduled. Sign up online or call MoDOT's customer service center at 1-888-275-6636.
