Road to be closed at the Bridge on Route 19 in Ralls County

HANNIBAL - Weather permitting, on Monday, April 25, Route 19 will be closed to replace the bridge deck at East Lick Creek north of Laddonia and south of the Route 154 intersection. The bridge rehabilitation should take approximately 38 working days, opening soon after Memorial Day.  In the next few years, MoDOT is working to improve bridges on many of its minor roads under MoDOT's innovative Safe and Sound Bridge Program. The 81-year-old bridge is one of six bridges being worked on this year in Ralls County.

Road closure signs will be in place notifying motorists of the work.  The detour is marked over Routes D, B and J. Some areas of the road will remain open to residential traffic only; all other traffic must take alternate routes during this time. Several notices have been posted through media, schools, email.  Message boards along the road will be set up in advance of the closure.

Currently, the Spencer Creek Bridges on Routes P and 154 are under construction, and the Ely Creek Bridge on Route J. Other bridge replacements in Ralls County include Route E near Saverton at Malaruni Creek and Route F at Spencer Creek south of Route 19.

With almost 40 bridge projects scheduled this year in northeast Missouri, MoDOT has created web pages that will provide updated information about these projects and subsequent road closures. The web pages, found at www.modot.org/northeast under Safe & Sound, are easy to navigate and provide as many details about possible on the bridges that will be rehabilitated or replaced this year.

All roadwork is posted on the traveler information map. Those traveling and commuting public are encouraged to check the online map at www.modot.org daily for new work zones.  MoDOT also offers e-update messages sent directly to your email when roadwork is scheduled.  Sign up online or call MoDOT's customer service center at 1-888-275-6636.
