Road to be closed at the Bridge on Route H in Pike County

HANNIBAL - Weather permitting, on Monday, April 18, Route H, west of Paynesville, will close to traffic for to replace the bridge at Little Ramsey Creek Bridge between Eolia and Paynesville. The bridge replacement should take approximately 44 working days, based upon the current schedule, reopening to traffic soon after Memorial Day.  In the next few years, MoDOT is working to improve bridges on many of its minor roads under MoDOT's innovative Safe and Sound Bridge Program. The 48-year-old bridge is one of seven bridges to be worked on this year in Pike County.

Road closure signs will be in place notifying motorists of the work. Alternate routes of travel should be taken over Routes W, WW and D. Some areas of the roadway will remain open to residential traffic only; all other traffic must take alternate during this time. Several notices will be posted through media, schools, email and message boards alerting the public of the closure.

Currently, the Small Creek Bridge on Route 79 is under construction. Other bridge replacements in Pike County include Route M south of Curryville at South Branch of Indian Creek, Route WW west of Clopton School at Mud Creek and Route W south of Paynesville at Guins Creek later in May. In July and August, Route AC north of Middletown at Sandy Creek and Route V east of Vandalia at Indian Creek will be replaced.

With almost 40 bridge projects scheduled this year in northeast Missouri, MoDOT has created web pages that will provide updated information about these projects and subsequent road closures. The web pages, found at www.modot.org/northeast under Safe & Sound, are easy to navigate and provide as many details about possible on the bridges that will be rehabilitated or replaced this year.

All roadwork is posted on the traveler information map. Those traveling and commuting public are encouraged to check the online map at www.modot.org daily for new work zones.  MoDOT also offers e-update messages sent directly to your email when roadwork is scheduled.  Sign up online or call MoDOT's customer service center at 1-888-275-6636.
