Ribbon Cutting Held on Route E Over Troublesome Creek South of Knox City

HANNIBAL - It's only been opened a few days, yet Knox County Commissioner Red Callahan already has heard positive feedback about the new two-lane bridge on Route E over Troublesome Creek just south of Knox City.  "Farmers and all drivers welcome this new, wider bridge," he said.  State Representative Craig Redmon also attended the ceremony and expressed appreciation to MoDOT and the contractors for constructing the bridge, especially in a short time frame.

MoDOT Inspector Dan Fox cut the ribbon, signifying the completion of three new bridges in Knox County this year.  He was joined by Bleigh Construction Foreman Jeff Devlin, and KTU Contractor Engineer Steve Kullman, partners in MoDOT's Safe & Sound Bridge Program.  Also participating in the ceremony was MoDOT Maintenance Superintendent Rodney Osbourne and Maintenance Supervisor Gene Boyles.

MoDOT has not completed 501 bridges statewide on the Safe & Sound Bridge Program.  There are two more bridges in Knox County to complete, and both will be done next year.  These include the bridge on Route M over the Middle Fabius River, and the bridge on Route E just south of Newark.  The roads will be closed during construction.

More information about MoDOT's Safe & Sound Bridge Program, including detours, maps and pictures, can be found online at www.modot.mo.gov.
