Safe & Sound Bridge on Schuyler Route E Opens Today
Marking 501 Bridges Completed in the Statewide Program

MACON - MoDOT will open to traffic the Route E Bridge over Brush Creek in Schuyler County by 5:00 p.m. today (Tuesday, August 9).  The bridge closed on June 20, and was replaced with a new bridge that is four-foot wider and striped for two-lane traffic.

This bridge marks 501 to open under the statewide Safe and Sound Bridge Program, which calls for improving 802 of Missouri's most worn out bridges within a five-year period - by December 31, 2013.

A ceremony for the completion of the bridge will be scheduled later this month.  Route E was the last of five bridges to be replaced in Schuyler County.

Number 500 opened earlier today in Perry County on Route 61 over Apple Creek, reaching a significant milestone for the program.
