Road to be closed on Route V in Pike County

HANNIBAL - Weather permitting, Monday, August 8, Route V will be closed to traffic to replace the Indian Creek Bridge east of Vandalia. The new two-lane bridge on Route V will be four-foot wider.

The bridge replacement should take approximately 44 working days, based on the current schedule and should be open to traffic in September. The 56-year-old bridge is one of twelve bridges to be worked on in Pike County under the Safe & Sound Bridge Program.

Road closure signs will be in place notifying motorists of the work. Alternate routes of travel are available over US 54 and Route M. Some areas of the road will remain open to residential traffic only; all other traffic must take alternate routes during this time.

Currently in eastern Pike County, the Sandy Creek Bridge on Route AC north of Middletown is being replaced and the Mud Creek Bridge on Route WW just east of Clopton School near Paynesville is being rehabilitated; both bridges should open to traffic by the middle of August.

The traveling and commuting public is encouraged to check the Traveler Information Map online at www.modot.org daily for new work zones. For more information about this bridge or others in the Safe & Sound Bridge Program, contact the MoDOT's Customer Service Center toll-free at 1-888-ASK MoDOT (275-6636).
