Road to be Closed on Route AC in Pike County
Bridge Replacement North of Middletown

HANNIBAL - Weather permitting, Tuesday, July 5, Route AC will be closed to traffic to replace the Sandy Creek Bridge north of Middletown in Pike County. The bridge replacement should take approximately 44 working days, based on the current schedule. The 51-year-old bridge is one of twelve bridges to be worked on in Pike County. The new two-lane bridge on Route AC will be four-foot wider and will open to traffic in mid August.

Road closure signs will be in place notifying motorists of the work. Alternate routes of travel are available over Routes K, M and 161. Some areas of the road will remain open to residential traffic only; all other traffic must take alternate routes during this time.

Currently in eastern Pike County, Route M south of Curryville is closed to replace the South Branch of Indian Creek Bridge, which is expected to open to traffic the first week of July; in August Route V east of Vandalia at Indian Creek will be replaced.

All roadwork is posted on the traveler information map. Those traveling and commuting public are encouraged to check the online map at www.modot.org daily for new work zones. For more information about this bridge or others in the Safe & Sound Bridge Program, contact the MoDOT's Customer Service Center toll-free at 1-888-ASK MoDOT (275-6636).
