Mark Twain Lake Area Road and Bridge Work
Facebook Twitter YouTube Picasa E-Update

MoDOT defines the Mark Twain Lake area to include the counties of Audrain, Monroe and Ralls.  If you're visiting this wonderful recreational area this year, please know there are several bridges being replaced or rehabilitated, as well as some road work on the highways.  Depending on where you're coming from, you'll want to check out the map and links below to ensure you are aware of the work and detours.

Monroe County

Ralls County

Four more bridges near Mark Twain Lake are scheduled to have work completed on them in 2013:

Route 154 over Elk Fork Salt River - built in 1976 - OPEN TO TRAFFIC

Route 154 over South Fork Salt River - built in 1976 - OPEN TO TRAFFIC

Route J over Cannon Reservoir - built in 1976 - OPEN TO TRAFFIC

Route J over Lick Creek - built in 1977 - OPEN TO TRAFFIC

*There may be intermittent lane closures while final clean up work and striping is completed.

The work involves substructure repairs and modifications, expansion joint replacement, removal and replacement of asphalt surface and upgrading the existing guardrail.

Each bridge will be closed for 20-30 days once the structural work begins, with some lane closures following for surface work.  Full bridge closures will not take place between Memorial Day and Labor day due to tourism and recreational use of the lake. We will keep you updated as the beginning of the projects draw near.

Macon Project Office will be overseeing the work, the bids were opened January 25, 2013 with contractor, Widel, Inc. as the low bid for $2,186,061.10; the bids will be approved in February with notice to proceed to be scheduled, weather permitting.
