HANNIBAL - Weather permitting, Tuesday, July 8, MoDOT and its contractor will begin repairing and resurfacing almost 17 miles of MO 16 from MO 6 to Route B in Canton.Repairs and resurfacing work which include shoulder improvements should take a little over a month and a half to complete. However, this work is weather dependent and can be delayed. Crews will be working Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Traffic will be reduced to one lane through the work zone with a pilot car leading motorists safely through the work zone. Signs will be in place at intersections to alert motorists to wait on the pilot car; if you proceed without waiting or go the opposite way, you may be in the path of oncoming traffic or construction equipment. Motorists may encounter rough and uneven pavement at various locations along the roadway. Delays of 5 to 10 minutes should be expected; motorists are urged to use alternate routes during these times. All lanes will be open to traffic at the end of each workday. The Missouri Department of Transportation's contractor for the project is Chester Bross Construction Company of Hannibal for $1,448,640.09.All roadwork is posted on the traveler information map.
