New MO 19 & I-70 Interchange Completed at New Florence

I-70 Closure for Bridge Demo Set for Late October

HANNIBAL – Over two months ahead of schedule, the bridge replacement and interchange project located on Missouri Route 19 and Interstate 70 fully opened to traffic today, September 18, upon completion of the north roundabout.

Contractor crews with Emery Sapp & Sons, Inc. have worked diligently throughout the course of the project to be able to deliver the project early.  Drivers will experience intermittent short-term lane closures on Missouri Route 19, the North Outer Road west of MO 19 and the South Outer Road/Tree Farm Road during overnight hours while crews complete concrete work on the islands at the roundabouts.  Weather permitting, this work is anticipated to be completed within one week.

The final stage of work will include demolition of the old bridge on MO 19 over I-70, currently scheduled for the evening of October 22.  This will require all I-70 traffic to be rerouted over the on/off ramps at this location for up to 24 hours. In case of inclement weather, this work could be rescheduled to the evening of October 29.

In preparation of the bridge demolition, I-70 will be restricted to one-lane the week of October 17 from 7 PM to 6 AM.   Additional details will be distributed before this work occurs.
