ST. JOSEPH, Mo – The start date for the closure of Chariton County Route TT has changed. The bridge deck of the Turkey Creek Bridge is in poor condition and in need of replacement. The Missouri Department of Transportation contracted with Emery Sapp & Sons, Inc. to complete a bridge deck replacement project at the bridge, located approximately 1 mile east of Route 139.
The bridge, which was built in 1961 and carries approximately 45 vehicles per day, will now close to all traffic on Tuesday, Sept. 13, instead of Monday, Sept. 19, as previously announced.
The bridge is expected to reopen by the end of November. During the closure, motorists will need to use an alternate route.
All work is weather dependent, and schedules are subject to change.
