Installation of New Driving Surface to Begin on Stadium Boulevard

COLUMBIA – A long-awaited effort to improve the driving surface along Missouri Route 740 (Stadium Boulevard) in Columbia is scheduled to begin on Monday, May 10.

A contractor working for the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) will begin the process of repairing pavement at various locations on Stadium Boulevard between Broadway Street and Route 163 (Providence Road).

These improvements are the first steps of a larger effort to install a new driving surface along the entire roadway between Interstate 70 and Route 63. Motorists are advised that the driving surface will be rough during the initial process, before the new asphalt is applied this summer.

Work will take place between the hours of 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. Nighttime and overnight delays are possible in or near work zones.

MoDOT appreciates the patience of travelers during this project and encourages drivers to stay focused on the road, obey all traffic signs and give crews plenty of room to work.

Work is weather permitting and could be delayed.
