Two Cooper County Bridges to Receive Upgrades Starting Next Week

COOPER COUNTY – Two bridges in need of maintenance or replacement will require the closure of two cooper county roadways in the coming months.

A contractor working for the Missouri Department of Transportation will begin the replacing the deck of the 55-year-old Route K bridge over the Blackwater River on Monday, May 18. The bridge will be closed to traffic for up to three months while the work takes place.

Motorists will be able to utilize Interstate 70 and Missouri Route 41 to access Route K on either side of the bridge during the closure. Traffic will also be able to access the town of Blackwater from I-70 for the duration of the project.

Once the Route K bridge deck has been replaced, crews will begin to replace the 68-year-old Route DD bridge over Flat Creek. More information will be available regarding the Route DD bridge replacement and closure closer to its start date.

Both bridges are included in Gov. Mike Parson’s $351 million Focus on Bridges program, which will repair or replace 250 bridges across the state.
