What: Missouri Route 39 bridge over Burlington Northern/Santa Fe Railroad (BNSF) tracks near Carnation Drive in Aurora to open to traffic
When: By Saturday, Dec. 7
Details:
- New Route 39 bridge over BNSF Railroad to open to traffic with temporary pavement markings
- Beginning Monday, Dec. 9, contractor crews will begin laying final asphalt surface and permanent pavement markings on Route 39 and Lawrence County Route K (Elliot Avenue)
- Drivers can expect one-lane traffic where pavement and striping operations are being done
- Flaggers will direct drivers through the work zone
- Carnation Drive will remain closed until utility crews raise a power line over the road
Weather and/or construction delays could alter the work schedule.
Project background:
- The bridge was part of a larger project to build a bridge over the railroad tracks at Missouri Route 39 and Carnation Avenue and improve railroad crossings to create a train “Quiet Zone” in Aurora
- Prime contractor: Hartman & Company Inc., Springfield
- Construction costs: $6.7 million
