Webb City – Area residents are invited to learn more about a project to replace the Jasper County Route D bridge over Center Creek at a public meeting scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 8, in Webb City, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.
The meeting is scheduled for 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Webb City council chambers, 200 S. Main Street. The meeting will be come-and-go style with NO formal presentation.
MoDOT representatives will be on hand to answer questions about the construction timeline and traffic impacts for the project.
Replacement of the old truss bridge is scheduled for 2019.
The project is estimated to cost $3 million and will replace the current bridge with a new wider and higher structure. The new bridge will not have height restrictions because the current truss system will be removed.
The Center Creek bridge was built in 1935 and is experiencing severe deterioration. Nearly 6,000 vehicles a day cross the bridge.
Traffic Impact During Construction:
- Route D CLOSED at the bridge during construction
- Drivers will have access to property at either end of the bridge, but will not be allowed to drive through the work zone
- A signed detour will be in place during the project. Traffic will use Route 171, Route 43 and Route 96
Because this bridge is eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places, the bridge is being offered to anyone who would like to remove it or use it for parts. Those interested in the bridge must be able to pay for its removal.
