Project to Replace the Route 248 Bridge Over Railey Creek

Near Galena Focus of April 12 Public Meeting in Stone County

Stone County – Area residents are encouraged to attend an April 12 public meeting to learn more about plans to replace the Route 248 bridge over Railey Creek near Galena in 2019, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.

The come-and-go style public meeting is scheduled from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 12, at the Stone County Commission Chambers, 3rd floor, 108 E. 4th Street in Galena.  Area residents can come at any time between 4:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. to learn about the project. NO FORMAL PRESENTATION is planned.

Anyone unable to attend the in-person meeting can view the same exhibits and give their comments at an online public meeting at www.modot.org/southwest. The online public meeting will be available starting Thursday, April 12, prior to the in-person meeting.

In 2019, MoDOT plans to close Route 248 at Railey Creek to replace the 95-year old bridge with a new structure. During the work, Route 248 traffic will be detoured, using Routes 160/13 and Route 176 to get around the project.

The estimated total project cost is $1.2 million dollars.
