Work to Convert Route 13 at Polk County Route U-Y

Intersection to a J-Turn Begins Week of August 6

Bolivar, Polk County – Drivers can expect lane closings on Route 13 at Polk County Route U/Y starting the week of August 6 as work begins on a project to make safety improvements to the intersection in Bolivar, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.

During the construction work, drivers can expect lane closings at lower traffic volume times and crews and equipment close to traffic.

Drivers who travel through the intersection are urged to use extreme caution and slow down in the work zone.

Here’s a look at the project:

  • Convert intersection to a J-turn
  • Allow left turns from Route 13 median to Routes U and Y
  • Left-turning traffic from Routes U and Y will turn right and will use new u-turns north and south of intersection to reach destinations
  • Install new highway signs
  • Install street lighting

Weather and/or unforeseen issues could alter the work schedule.

The prime contractor on the project is APAC Central of Fayetteville, AR.

The estimated total project cost is $1.5 million.

The intersection project will be completed by December 2018.
