Greene County Route O Sac River
Bridge
Set for Replacement Beginning May 4
MoDOT, District 8, Springfield -- Work is scheduled to begin Wednesday,
May 4, on a project to replace the Sac River bridge on Greene
County Route O east of Willard, the Missouri Department of Transportation
said.
The project includes building a new
bridge to the south of the existing bridge on Route O, located
three miles west of Route 13.
Traffic will be impacted very little
during the project, with most work taking place off the roadway.
However, rock blasting will be needed during the bridge construction.
When blasting occurs, traffic on Route O will be stopped before
and after a charge is set off for safety reasons and to allow
crews to clear debris from the road.
Drivers are asked to adhere to the
work zone speed limit of 40 mph on Route O.
The project is scheduled for completion
by the end of November.
The existing bridge built in 1957 is 218 feet long and 20 feet
wide, with no shoulders. The new span will be 282 feet long, with
two 12-foot wide driving lanes and 8-foot wide shoulders.
APAC-Missouri of Columbia
is the prime contractor, doing the work for a low bid amount of
$1.7 million.
