JEFFERSON CITY -- The Missouri Department of Transportation has launched its first electronic newsletter, giving subscribers quick access to comprehensive, timely and easy-to-read transportation information.

“We started this newsletter as a low-cost way to provide information about transportation issues directly to the public in an easy-to-read and appealing format,” said Pete Rahn, MoDOT director. “MoDOT is committed to providing accurate and timely information to our customers as a part of our efforts to be an open and transparent organization.”

The MoDOT Express Lane is published on a twice-a-month basis and promises “Transportation News to You in 12 Articles or Less.”  The newsletter features the most current and relevant news about department activities, in a short, easy-to-read format. Recipients can either skim through a brief description of the article, or click on a link for more detailed information.

“We know people like options, and we want to ensure we are providing enough avenues for anyone interested in transportation news to have access to the most up-to-date information,” Rahn said.

The first edition of Express Lane was sent last fall and has become a popular choice for viewers on MoDOT’s Web site. The newsletter currently is being sent to various transportation partners, including legislators, city and county officials, media and others who do business with the department, as well as employees and some retirees.
