MoDOT Road Report for Tuesday, September 6
(Rain will cause delays in the work schedule.)

Construction and maintenance work stopped at noon on Friday, September 2, prior to the beginning of the Labor Day weekend. However, some lane closings at major construction projects will remain in place over the three-day holiday weekend. Road construction and maintenance activities will not resume until after 9 a.m. on Tuesday, September 6.
Please use caution if you plan to travel during the busy Labor Day Holiday weekend.

Projects on I-44 in southwest and south-central Missouri

* Springfield area: The westbound passing lane is CLOSED until mid-to-late September at Route 744 (mile marker 84) between Strafford and Springfield. Traffic is shifted to the rebuilt westbound driving lane, with the westbound ramps open to traffic.
The passing lane will be closed for about a mile 24-hours a day, seven days a week.
To avoid the work zone, drivers may use Route 125 (Exit 88) at Strafford and Route OO/744 to reach industrial area. Drivers also may use Route 744 (East Kearney Street), Route 65 and I-44 to go westbound on I-44.
Contractor crews are tearing out the pavement and will put in new pavement as part of a pavement reconstruction project.

* St. James area: One eastbound lane closed. Mile Markers 195-201. Maintenance work.

* Waynesville/Rolla area: One eastbound lane closed. Mile Markers 169-203. Sign replacement project.

* Jerome area: One westbound lane closed. Mile Markers 174-172. Concrete repairs.

* Stotts City area: 2-Way TRAFFIC: Two-way traffic in eastbound lanes between Mile Markers 32 and 38, Jasper/Lawrence county line to near Stotts City. Westbound side closed for reconstruction. Lane closing 24 hrs. a day. Signs indicate an emergency detour on nearby state routes.

* Mt. Vernon/Halltown areas: One eastbound lane closed for resurfacing. Mile Markers 46-59.

* Stotts City area: Westbound driving lane closed. Mile Markers 44-41. Concrete repairs.

Other District 8/Springfield road work scheduled for Tuesday:

Springfield Area:
* One northbound lane closed on Kansas Expressway (Route 13) between Division Street and Kearney Street (Route 744). Concrete repairs.

* Lane closings on Kearney Street at Route 65 between morning and afternoon rush hours. Contractor crew installing traffic signal detector loops in pavement.

* Narrowed ramp lanes at the Route 60/160/FF interchange southwest of Springfield. Contractor crew installing traffic signals and widening ramps.

Branson/Tri-Lakes Area:
* One-lane traffic on Route 76 between Taneyville and the Douglas County line. Patching.

* One-lane traffic on Route 13 in the Lampe area. Repairing roadway edges.

Lebanon Area:
* One-lane traffic on Route 5 between Bland Road in Lebanon and Laclede County Route C south of Lebanon. Contractor crew resurfacing.

Other Areas:
* One eastbound lane of Route 60 closed between Webster County Route U east of Rogersville and Webster County Route Z at Fordland. Concrete repairs.

* One-lane traffic on Route 5 between Wright County Route V south of Hartville and Hartville. Sealing road with rock and oil.

* One-lane traffic on Stone County Route CC south of Hurley. Patching.

* One-lane traffic on Webster County Route C north of Seymour. Building shoulders.

Ongoing Construction Projects -- Updated for Week of September 5:
* Route 65 interchange and widening at Hollister:
-- Route 65 traffic stopped near Gage Drive two to three times each day. Blasting rock.
-- Route 65 traffic shifted to new northbound lanes between Route 165 and a point north of Mall Road. Speed limit: 35 mph.
-- Large dump trucks traveling along shoulder of Route V near College of the Ozarks. Drain pipes installed and dirt graded and hauled.
-- Traffic stopped on Route 165 for short periods. Dump trucks cross the road.
-- One-lane traffic is possible at the intersection of Industrial Boulevard and Birch Road. Concrete poured for curb and gutter and traffic signal bases.
New Route 65 interchange being built and a 1.6-mile stretch of highway widened to four lanes at Hollister. Scheduled for completion: fall 2006.

* Route 13 widening between Humansville and Collins:
-- One-lane traffic on Route N. Asphalt is scheduled to be laid for new portions of Route N where the road will connect with Route 13.
-- Route 13 traffic at Route N and Route N traffic at Route 13 shifted to temporary bypasses.
-- Concrete poured for box bridges on Route N at Humansville and box culverts along Route 13 in St. Clair County.
-- Polk County 42nd Road closed south of Route 123 and west of Route 13 is scheduled to be reopened to traffic on Friday, September 9.
-- Crews will lay base rock at 30th Street south to the end of the project. Watch for trucks entering and exiting.
Project to widen Route 13 to four lanes and resurface the northbound lanes of highway. Scheduled completion: spring 2007.

* Greene County Route O bridge replacement at Little Sac River east of Willard:
-- Traffic stopped for blasting at noon and 4 p.m.
-- Building forms and tying reinforcing steel for bridge deck.
-- Concrete is scheduled to be poured for the new bridge deck at mid-week. Be alert for concrete trucks entering and leaving the project.
-- Traffic shifted to temporary bypass.
-- Speed limit reduced to 45 mph.
Project to replace the Little Sac River bridge. Scheduled completion: late November.

* Greene County Route AD bridge replacement east of Springfield/north of Rogersville:
-- Traffic may be shifted to the new bridge at mid-week. A temporary bypass will remain in place at both ends of the project until the new roadway can be tied into existing Route AD.
-- Dirt will be graded on the east end of the project - AWAY from traffic.
Project to replace the Sawyer Creek bridge. Scheduled completion: spring 2006.
