Two Bridges in Polk County
Set for Replacement in 2006
MoDOT, District 8, Springfield --
Informational meetings on two bridge replacement projects set
for 2006 in Polk County are planned for this week -- one Wednesday
in Pleasant Hope and one Thursday in Halfway.
The projects involve closing the highway
at each bridge during construction, the Missouri Department of
Transportation said.
* A new bridge will be built over
Sycamore Branch on Route KK two miles northwest of Pleasant Hope.
An open house-style public meeting
to show the plans and discuss construction is set for 4 p.m. to
7 p.m. Wednesday (September 7) at Pleasant Hope Middle School
on West McCurry Street just off Route H.
* A new bridge will be built over
Hominy Creek on Route P a mile north of Halfway.
An open house-style public meeting
to show the plans and discuss construction is set for 4 p.m. to
7 p.m. Thursday (September 8) at the Halfway School cafeteria
on Route 32.
The new bridges will be built in the
same locations as the existing bridges, which are reduced to one
lane of traffic because of load limits. Each new bridge will be
28 feet wide, with 10-foot wide lanes and 4-foot wide shoulders.
When the roads are closed between
spring and fall of 2006, drivers will be asked to find alternate
routes. State highways will be marked as detours. Local traffic
will be able to use nearby county roads.
