I-44 Work Zone Update for Tuesday, September 6
(Rain will cause delays in the work schedule.)

Construction and maintenance work will stop at noon Friday, September 2, prior to the beginning of the Labor Day weekend. However, the I-44 work zone will remain in place over the three-day holiday weekend. Please use caution when traveling.

* Springfield area: The westbound passing lane is CLOSED until mid-to-late September at Route 744 (mile marker 84) between Strafford and Springfield. Traffic is shifted to the rebuilt westbound driving lane, with the westbound ramps open to traffic.

The passing lane will be closed for about a mile 24-hours a day, seven days a week.

To avoid the work zone, drivers may use Route 125 (Exit 88) at Strafford and Route OO/744 to reach industrial area. Drivers also may use Route 744 (East Kearney Street), Route 65 and I-44 to go westbound on I-44.
Contractor crews are tearing out the pavement and will put in new pavement as part of a pavement reconstruction project.
